What It Smells Like
Oud Post-Mortem opens with black pepper over damp earth and wild mushroom, creating an immediate impression of wet forest floor and decaying organic matter. The combination is earthy and raw rather than fresh or traditionally green, with the soil tincture reinforcing its mineral, subterranean character.
As it develops, black truffle moves into the centre alongside dry smoke. The truffle gives the fragrance a dense, savoury and distinctly fungal quality, while the smoke adds a charred darkness. It is an intentionally challenging combination that moves well beyond conventional woody or oud perfumery.
The dry down is dominated by Oud Hindi Kalakassi, described by the house as deeply animalic, with cold ash and the soil tincture creating a dark, mineral and funereal effect. The result is dense and uncompromising, with the oud, earth and ash forming the lasting impression.
Overall, the fragrance feels like damp earth and black truffle beneath cold smoke, eventually giving way to intensely animalic oud and ash.
