What It Smells Like
Funerie opens with an intensely earthy combination of morel mushroom, decayed rose, leather and tobacco. The mushroom accord gives the opening a damp, organic quality, while the wilted rose adds a faded floral character rather than a fresh or romantic sweetness. Leather and tobacco deepen the composition, creating an immediate sense of age and decay.
As the fragrance develops, smoke, pineboard and incense begin to dominate. The charred pinewood effect gives the scent a dry, woody texture, while the incense introduces a darker, ritualistic quality. The contrast between the earthy mushroom, fading florals and smoky wood creates the impression of an abandoned woodland ceremony surrounded by decaying vegetation.
During the dry down, sweet myrrh, blood cedar, dried needles and rotting wood create a dense, resinous foundation. The oud-like rotting wood accord adds further depth and gives the fragrance its distinctly decomposing, forest-floor character, while the resins and incense leave a lingering smoky trail.
